Weekly Update for Week Ending September 20, 2002
Hello Friends and Neighbors:
I want to first thank all of you for attending our last meeting.
The energy is growing and it's clear we have a very strong
foundation. Thanks for all your efforts.
We have been working hard since the meeting and have some
news to report. First, I have been asked to represent our group
in a Mayoral Task Force regarding water issues and the
silvery minnow. The meeting is Monday, 9:30am. Therefore,
I would love your comments so I can provide a detailed
accounting of our opinions and interests
Second, Chris Pritchard followed up on the idea of group
purchasing. She found a deal for members if anyone is
interested in renovating their heating/cooling systems. I
won't give all the details here, but if you're interested, let
me know. Chris negotiated a savings of $75 for a group
purchase. Let's get her appointed to the UN! : )
Third, Chris also followed up on the suggestion by
Stephani Winklepleck to conduct a survey of a portion of
our neighborhood. She wrote some excellent questions. These
will tie in with the templates given to us by Stephani. If
anyone is interested, let's put together a committee to work
on this. I'm a survey researcher by trade. I have the analysis
software for our purposes. This will be a positive action for
our area.
Fourth, I met this week with Lori Peterkin who is the President
of the SY Jackson PTA. She is an excellent leader and their
group can always use our help. I would like to get us thinking
of ways to tie in with their efforts. The school represents the
heart of our neighborhood -- and a foundation of our future.
Fifth, I was contacted by a new resident to our area, Jamie
Corwin. She and her husband, Michael, would like to be active
participants. Jamie was a major contributor to their neighborhood
association's newsletter. She is interested in helping in this
area. I believe this could benefit our group immensely. I want
to welcome Jamie and Michael, and extend them both a hearty
thanks for joining our ranks.
Sixth, Stephani informed me today we were runners-up in
National Night Out. That's a great accomplishment for us, as
we're just gathering momentum. I heard a rumor we all earned
an all-expense paid vacation to the Hawaii, but later found
out it was just a rumor... : ) Seriously, I do want to thank all
our volunteers for their efforts. We'll get a clear victory next
year!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend. Keep those cards and
letters coming in... : )
Thanks again for all your energy and support. We're building
a very strong foundation. I would also like to thank Stephani
and the Office of Neighborhood Coordination for all their
assistance. Stephani works very hard for all of us. We can't
thank her enough. See you soon.
